First go to your XMB, Settings, Network Settings, Media Server Connection = make sure it is on Disable.

Next call you ISP and tell them that you need to have the following ports ( OPEN ).

TCP ports: 80, 443, 5223, 10070-10080

UDP ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, 10070

TCP port 9293

Once that is done go back to your PS3 and go to Settings, Network Settings, Internet connection test.

You’re done.

As for the problem with the patch, SONY gave me the run around.

if you have a linksys router you can do the following:
type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your web browser.
A login screen will pop up the default password is admin for old routers the login name is blank for newer version the name is admin.
Goto gaming applications type in the ports that doc put up above and click enable.
before hitting save make sure you have the right IP of your playstation. You can get this by going to the XMB->Settings->System Settings->System Information
once all the ports are put in click save
